Angel Locsin visited a war-torn region in Mindanao with four friends and without any security detail. The actress made the trip to educate herself about the current state of civilians affected by the ongoing happenings and what help she could extend. Angel dropped by the Munai evacuation center and talked with the residents who were caught in the crossfire between the rebels and soldiers.

“I want exposure. Maybe I’m asking myself why Mindanao is always attack? Why is there a war? Why is it being afraid of?” she revealed. “I want to personally know why [things are the way they are].”

She went with four friends, including her personal assistant and a writer-friend, and refused to have bodyguards that would have aroused threat or suspicion among residents. “Cause if there’s security, I can’t really find out the situation in Mindanao cause they would be afraid. I really mingled with the people. I really cooperate with them,” she revealed.

In a region with a history of kidnappings, Angel admitted that she initially got worried but thought it best to do without a security escort, and she even resisted boyfriend Luis Manzano’s offer of backup.

Angel took the chance to visit Mindanao while she has rest days from top-rating teleserye My Only You because her co-stars, Diether Ocampo and Sam Milby, flew to the United States for the Star Magic On Tour concert. She said that she had planned the visit since the previous month and grabbed the chance when her leading men had to go to the US tour.

Angel’s outreach mission has just begun and the actress said that she is already planning her next move to offer help, but refused to give details at this time.
