For the third year of the Star Magic Ball, Angelica Panganiban was finally able to make sure that boyfriend Derek Ramsay would make it to the event. Derek explained to ABS-CBN.com that, “Before, I always had a scheduled taping on the actual day that’s why I can’t accompany her. But this one, she’s really clever(Angelica), she let me block it off ahead of time. So now I am excited about the whole evening to [be able] spend more time with her. Nothing to worry about until tomorrow when I have to get up and go to work.”

After going to the ball solo for the past two years, Angelica said that it was high time that Derek experience bonding with the Kapamilya stars in one grand event. “Happy and my hair is so long right now coz of course I have date,” she beamed.

Both stars are always busy with their respective projects so they are rarely seen together at social functions. Derek revealed that the only way for them to have quality time is to schedule trips abroad. As early as now, they are already planning a romantic island getaway. “We’re planning a trip two months from now. Either in the Maldives or Fiji. I told her that Fiji’s a beautiful place then she’s the one who pitched Maldives to me, so we’re still picking.”

Derek also revealed he wants Angelica to meet his ailing grandmother who’s based in England. “Supposedly, we’d be going to Europe at the end of the month. It’s my chance to show her England if our schedule will permit us. It all depends. Our family’s also planning to go back to England because my grandma is turning 89 years old so I have to go see her. I’d like my grandma to actually meet Angel before she passes away,” he added. “I’m very thankful coz his family is so good to me. Eventhough we’re having a hard time communicating with his dad, we really do have a great effort on each other,” Angelica replied.

As for their plan to go to South Africa for the World Cup next year, Derek said he is determined to go through with it even if Angelica is still unsure of what to expect when they get there. “I m a very spontaneous guy. I’m not even planning about our accommodations. It really depends. Coz if we miss it we have to wait another four years to watch it. We really cannot afford to miss this.” “Excuse me you’re the one who’s always asleep,” Angelica interjected, “Still I’m always looking forward to our trips. But I don’t know yet if I’m ready for the World Cup. I don’t really expect. Coz if I’m expecting, I would have a long expectation.”

During the interview, the two exchanged light banter about Derek’s passion for football and the fact that he gets emotional, especially when it comes to England’s playoffs. “Angel is not sosy. But maybe she wouldn’t understand my passion for the game. Coz I’m really crying, shouting, getting angry, taking off clothes… I am really a very passionate football player and fanatic.” To which Angel defended herself again, “Of course not! I had watch him wherein the England’s flag was coated on him, then he’s crying! I don’t know how to comfort him so just like him I also cried,” she added with a laugh.
